MIDDLEBURY, Ind. – Soon, our pies and pastries won’t be the only decadent delicacies on our Essenhaus campus.
After months of keeping the project under wraps, our friends at Coblentz Chocolates have revealed their plan to transform the former Clothesline building into a chocolate shop!
Founded in 1987 by Jason and Mary Coblentz, the Coblentz company has built a reputation for crafting high-quality chocolates rooted in tradition, care, and time-honored recipes. The new location at Essenhaus marks an exciting expansion into Indiana, bringing these handcrafted favorites to a new community.
“We are very excited to become part of the Middlebury community and the Essenhaus Campus,” said Amy Yoder of Coblentz Chocolate Company. “This opportunity allows us to share our chocolates with even more families and visitors, and we look forward to welcoming everyone when we open our doors.”
Dutchman Hospitality Group leaders were searching for a retail partner with shared values to enhance the Middlebury campus and found one just up the street from their headquarters in Walnut Creek, Ohio.
“As part of Dutchman Hospitality’s continuous efforts to provide our guests with an experience that celebrates our Midwestern Amish & Mennonite Communities, it is vital that such a partner aligns with our values and will also contribute to the wholesome experience we wish to provide for our guests and our communities,” said DHG President Mike Miller. “Having been a great neighbor on our Walnut Creek Campus for decades, it seemed like a natural fit to invite the Coblentz Family to join us in Indiana.”
The Coblentz chocolate shop at Essenhaus is projected to open in June and will offer a wide selection of customer favorites, including classic assortments, rich caramels, creamy centers, peanut butter buckeyes, and signature Swiss-style truffles.
More details, including a grand opening date, will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can purchase Coblentz chocolates from their flagship location in Walnut Creek, at Dutch Valley Market, and online at CoblentzChocolates.com.
