Bread and butter pickles, also known as sweet and sour pickles, reportedly acquired their name in the Depression, when they were placed between pieces of bread and butter to make a cheap sandwich. Our Der Dutchman pickles have a wonderful sweet, tart flavor that is less sweet than a sweet pickle, but not as tart as a dill pickle.
