MIDDLEBURY, Ind. – The Essenhaus campus will host its annual train show on Sat., Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This will be the 16th year for the event that will feature more than 40 vendors and 178 tables of train-related merchandise ranging from kids’ toys and t-shirts to model trains, parts, and tracks – both antique and modern – and everything in between.
“The event began as a way to create something fun and engaging during the winter months, when families are looking for things to do,” said Essenhaus Events Coordinator Angela Miller. “In the very first year, the show was held solely in the restaurant building, but it quickly became clear that the space wasn’t large enough. Since then, the show has grown to include three buildings and four separate spaces to comfortably accommodate vendors and guests alike.”
Family-friendly activities will be offered throughout the day. There will be several working train layouts to check out, and a trolley will be available to transport attendees between buildings.
“This event offers more than just a train show—it’s a full weekend experience,” explained Miller. “Guests can stay at our inn on Friday night, enjoy delicious meals at the restaurant, browse the bakery and gift shops, and spend Saturday immersed in trains.”
The show will also feature a massive 10’x15’ LEGO train masterpiece: a returning favorite sure to wow visitors of all ages.
“Guests love seeing what the LEGO layout will look like each year,” said Miller. “It’s always packed with incredible detail and so much to discover.”
Also back by popular demand, kids will receive an Essenhaus Express Train Ticket. Children who visit all four locations listed and return their ticket will receive a special prize.
Admission to the Essenhaus Train Show on Feb. 21 is $4 per person, $10 for families of three or four, and $14 for families of five or more. Children 3 and under get in for free with an adult.
