Human Resource Director

Full-time Position – Walnut Creek Office

The role of this position is to take the lead in the full scope of Human Resources responsibilities, implementing short and long term strategies and programs to support the goals and objectives of Dutchman Hospitality at the corporate level as well as at the individual location level. This position serves as part of the executive team to align the human resource strategies with the Company’s overall strategic direction and to develop processes and procedures that support business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Gain thorough understanding of Dutchman culture, fully embracing the Mission, Vision, and Values it promotes.
• Oversee the Human Resource functions and determine the strategic direction of the department
• Analyze and monitor all HR objectives for effectiveness and cost-containment, developing and maintaining KPI’s
• Develop strategies to increase Retention, reducing turnover
• Implement and manage programs that maintain and enhance the workplace culture of Dutchman Hospitality
• Take advantage of opportunities to publicize workplace culture in communities (press releases, community event
participation, volunteer opportunities)
• Assist location management in filling staffing needs through the use of multiple recruitment tools and strategies.
• Formulate Job Offer letters for manager and key positions, in coordination with Senior Management
• Ensure proper background checks, personality profiles, confidentiality agreements are obtained for key positions,
whether from new hires or staff promotions.
• Administer the optimum utilization of the HRIS (Paycor), as well as the Applicant Tracking System
• Coordinate employee communications programs (Text, Email, Newsletter, Social Media, Info Screens, Surveys)
• Work with Payroll and Benefits Manager to provide oversight of all formal Benefit programs
• Administer other internal benefit programs (Employee Discounts, Recognition Awards, Promotions, Scholarships)
• Point person for Company-Wide Employee and/or Management events, acting as MC for formal programs.
• Visit all locations at least annually to perform HR Audits on conformity to policy and procedures.
• Meet with location Management to learn of opportunities for improvement from an HR perspective, and develop
strategies for each location.
• Coordinate with Segment and Location managers effective internal and external training opportunities for staff,
including Dutchman’s own Leadership Development Program
• Perform both periodic, and ongoing review of existing company policies, procedures and handbooks.
• Develop and implement new policies and procedures as needed.
• Oversee proper utilization of Unemployment and Workers Comp programs, monitoring for effectiveness.
• Coordinate and provide oversight to the Corporate Safety program, including the Drug-Free Workplace program
• Provide guidance to all levels of management on policy and practice issues, utilizing attorneys and/or member
organizations for guidance when needed.
• Additional duties as needed or requested


Minimum Qualifications:
• 5+ years’ experience in Human Resource functions, preferably in Hospitality industry
• Bachelor Degree Required
• Strong recruiting and demonstrated ability to improve talent acquisition and retention strategies
• Demonstrated expertise in training managers and employees
• Strong organizational, critical thinking and communications skills
• Attention to detail and good judgement
• Certification through SHRM, PHR or SHRM-CP a plus
